Are Blood Glucose Meters Accurate

The blood sugar measured by the blood glucose meter is accurate. Generally, the blood glucose meter needs to be recalibrated when replacing the new test strip. If the blood sugar value measured without calibration will be biased, the blood sugar will be inaccurate. In addition, the blood glucose meter should be taken to the hospital for calibration every six months to one year, and compared with the blood drawing results to see if there is any error. If there is an error, you need to find the cause or replace the blood glucose meter. Patients with diabetes, if they are using insulin therapy, need to measure blood sugar 2-3 times a week.

If you are currently using oral hypoglycemic drugs, you need to measure blood sugar about 3-5 times a month. If you have symptoms of hypoglycemia, such as cold sweats in your limbs and hunger, you should check your blood sugar at any time. If your blood sugar is too high or too low, you need to see a doctor in time.
